This analysis provides a comprehensive insight into the transformation potential of wiring harness development, divided into the criteria "current relevance", "future influence" and "need for action". Both the overall perspective and the individual considerations of the stakeholder groups OEMs, assemblers and component suppliers are presented.

overall perspective

In the criteria of “current relevance”, the trend segments “automation in LS production & handling”, “highly automated driving & electromobility” and “green on-board network” lead the ranking with a large number of very highly rated transformation potentials. When looking at the criterion of “future influence”, only the transformation potential “fail-operational system” was rated very highly. The majority of the transformation potentials were rated high. The evaluators see the lowest need for action in the transformation potentials of “quantum computing” and “circuit board instead of wiring harness”.

From an overall perspective, the following picture emerges for the five highest-rated transformation potentials per criterion:

Individual perspectives

The following analysis presents the perspectives of OEMs, assemblers and component suppliers with regard to the transformation potential in wiring harness development.

OEMs rated the transformation potential “complexity reduction” highest in the criterion “current relevance”. In the criterion “future influence”, the transformation potential “automated wiring harness production” leads and in the criterion “need for action”, the transformation potential “automated development method and production” was rated as the most urgent.

In the clothing manufacturers The transformation potential “Requirements for fast charging systems” was rated highest in all three criteria.

component suppliers also see the “requirements for fast charging systems” in the “current relevance” category. In the “future influence” category, “new data transmission technologies” are the frontrunner. In the “need for action” category, the “paradigm shift in development” was rated as the most urgent.
