Within the 8th Innovation Showcase on February 24, 2026 Dr.-Ing. Miriam Schleipen, Chief Research Officer of EKS InTec GmbH, presented a continuous digital development process for flexible, automated manufacturing systems.
The presentation describes an approach with a clear focus on adaptive production components at EKS InTec GmbH. Instead of classic matrix production concepts, the focus is on adaptable production components and specialized software solutions for flexible components. These include, among other things, adaptive fixtures for component positioning based on modular console and fixture concepts, as well as intelligent, adaptable grippers.
Key enablers are established standards such as AAS, AutomationML, OPC UA, and FMI. In addition, simulation, virtual commissioning, and analysis and optimization approaches ensure system efficiency, increase adaptability, and enable short changeover times.
A particular focus is placed on the necessary data and information about the product. In an iterative interplay ("ping-pong") between data specialists and production system planners, the individual planning steps from the product to the finished assembly system are examined. From this, it is derived what information and data the product must contain to enable reliable and efficient assembly.
The goal is to actively advance industrial production through innovative software solutions and advanced engineering.
