The technology developed by Frisimos Technologies for the fully automated processing of multi-core cables was presented on November 7, 2024 as part of the 4th Innovation Show presented by Mr. Stefan Jaeger. It is characterized by a modular design that allows flexible adaptation to different cable and connector types. The modules, controlled by proprietary software, integrate the latest technologies from the fields of computer vision, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).
Up to now, the processing of multi-core and shielded cables was mostly done manually. The new modules from Frisimos allow for the complete automation of every processing step. For example, the shielding is processed using brushes, while the film is removed using a 360° laser. One of the biggest challenges, sorting the inner conductors by color, was solved with the specially developed "Wire Sorter" module. The Wire Sorter uses five cameras that record the position of the inner conductors from different directions. An algorithm calculates the optimal sequence, usually starting with the lowest inner conductor, which is brought into the specified position.
By combining these modules with devices from other manufacturers, such as crimping or soldering, there are a wide range of possibilities for further automation of cable processing.
