Awarded the "Robustness" award at the Robotics Challenge 2026.
With its contribution to the Robotics Challenge 2026, the FAPS chair aims not only to automate individual assembly operations, but also to map a complete process chain for a hybrid wiring harness module. The demonstrator builds on the results of the Robotics Challenge 2025 and systematically develops them further towards a comprehensive and near-series production process perspective.
The focus is on linking multiple process steps within a common automation concept. This expands the consideration of individual subtasks into a consistent overall process. The article demonstrates how different automation functions can be combined into a seamless process chain, resulting in new solutions for industrial implementation.
This approach is particularly relevant for technology transfer because it places greater emphasis on series production capability. The focus is not on the isolated technical feasibility of individual process steps, but rather on the design of a consistent and robust process logic. In this way, FAPS makes a significant contribution to the question of how hybrid wiring harness modules can be manufactured economically, reliably, and automatically in the future.
