We cordially invite you to our hybrid trend outlook "Sustainability in the wiring harness" into Open Hybrid LabFactory in Wolfsburg on! March 6, 2024 An interesting event awaits you with informative lectures and interactive workshops on the important topic of sustainability.
In the morning, experts will present practical lectures on various aspects of sustainability. The impetus of the GG Group, presented by David Lukavsky and Nikola Mitrovic, will examine the use of sustainable materials in cable manufacturing. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christine Minke from the TU Clausthal will speak about the recycling and sustainability of electronic components. Thomas Neubert from Fraunhofer IST will give us specific insights into the application of pyrolysis technologies, especially using solar cells as an example. The lectures will be held on site and also streamed live!
In two exciting workshops that will take place on site in the afternoon, we want to exchange ideas about the current state of sustainability, hurdles and solution strategies for greater sustainability. We will look at design and production as well as the question of what happens to cables and connectors after the vehicle's life. Please note that the workshops are not aimed at providing ready-made solutions. Rather, we would like to discuss possible solutions together on the basis of the participants' contributions and identify any research needs.
The first workshop Barriers and opportunities for more sustainable materials deals with questions such as which conductor materials can protect the climate, which requirements influence the selection of insulation materials and what can be done to increase the proportion of sustainable materials.
In the second workshop Paths to the Circular Economy The aim is to discuss how the resources of cable harnesses can be consistently recycled in order to reduce the use of primary materials, avoid environmentally harmful emissions from non-recyclable waste and meet current and future legal standards.

On March 6, 2024, the Transformation Hub Leitungssatz invited people to the theme day "Sustainability in the wiring harness" at the Open Hybrid LabFactory in Wolfsburg.
In the morning, the participants on site and on the screens had the opportunity to gain inspiration from three exciting presentations: David Lukavsky and Nikola Mitrovic from the GG Group kicked things off with an insight into the measures taken by a cable and component manufacturer with regard to the use of recycled materials and the reduction of the product carbon footprint. Prof. Dr. Christine Minke then presented an innovative recycling route for electronics from old vehicles that was developed at the TU Clausthal. The final presentation was given by Dr. Thomas Neubert from the Fraunhofer IST, who presented microwave pyrolysis as a thermochemical recycling technology.
After lunch, the participants went on site and had a concrete discussion on the question of how the circular economy can be designed sensibly in the wiring harness industry. First, the status quo was discussed, then obstacles to further measures and possible solutions were discussed.
We would like to thank all participants for their interest and are motivated to expand the topic even further in order to contribute to the transformation to a climate-neutral, resource-saving wiring harness industry!
