Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – Training in Stuttgart

July 01, 2025 | Stuttgart

Content of the event

The demands on companies in the area of sustainability are constantly increasing. Climate change, regulatory requirements and growing expectations for transparency in the supply chain require sound environmental assessment methods. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) according to ISO 14040/44 enables the precise quantification of environmental impacts and supports companies in identifying optimization potential.

for the application technoloqy. Our in-house LCA training series We offer free events. In addition to the training in Stuttgart, further events will take place in Wolfsburg, Nuremberg, Erfurt, and Wuppertal. Registration please use the form below.

training contents

Our professional and practice-oriented training offers you:

  • Practical insights based on a current LCA study on automotive wiring harnesses
  • Communication of the most important impact categories: greenhouse gas potential, acidification, primary energy consumption and resource requirements
  • Consideration of the entire value chain – from raw material extraction to recycling (cradle-to-cradle)
  • Working with common LCA software (e.g. openLCA) and databases (e.g. ecoinvent)

Review of LCA training courses for automotive wiring harnesses

On July 1, 2025, the final LCA training course for automotive wiring harnesses took place at ARENA2036 in Stuttgart. This marks the end of three successful training days conducted by Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik GmbH (LBST) as part of the "Transformation Hub Wiring Harness" project.

The training courses were aimed at professionals from industry and research and provided practical knowledge on life cycle assessment (LCA) and product carbon footprint (PCF) calculations. The focus was on application – illustrated by an LCA study by LBST that examines the environmental impacts of conventional and electrical wiring harnesses.

The positive feedback from participants shows that the training courses offer practical insights – for development processes, material decisions, and discussions with partners.

The underlying study was commissioned by the Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF), prepared by LBST, and reviewed by TÜV SÜD. It is free and publicly available.

Two further training dates are planned for autumn 2025. Details will be announced soon.
